The C-DAX project aims to develop a secure overlay network to support data exchange and distributed control for smart energy applications in power grids. The network is designed to integrate a wide range of grid applications from different domains. It will be implemented through a prototype and tested in simulations and field trials. The project is led by a consortium of partners over 3 years with EU funding of nearly 3 million euros.
Small animal imaging bridges in vitro technology and personalized medicine by allowing researchers to non-invasively image molecular and cellular processes in living animals. It has evolved alongside advances in molecular biology and medical imaging technologies. Functional imaging using biomarkers and contrast agents enables detection of diseases earlier than structural imaging alone. Biomarker development is a multidisciplinary effort involving cellular, preclinical, and clinical studies. Small animal imaging scales down human imaging for preclinical research, with optical imaging playing a key role due to the smaller size of animals compared to humans.
The document summarizes the LINEAR project which uses residential demand response to address issues from increased renewable energy. It has a budget of €40 million running from 2009-2014. The project focuses on automating demand shifts using smart devices like washing machines to provide grid benefits like reducing transformer aging or helping balance intermittent renewables. It tests demand response through business cases like dynamic pricing, helping the distribution system operator control voltages, or decreasing a renewable energy provider's balancing costs.

Currently Cloud Computing is a hot topic in computer science. Recently, with the rising popularity of wearable and smart devices, resources are not only clustered in datacenters, but are also present everywhere around you: Instead of a distant Cloud you are surrounded by a Fog. However, since the beginning of computer networks, people already had the vision of intelligent interconnected devices everywhere. Are we there yet, and what are the challenges still to be tackled?

1) The Sheffield Infection Group conducted outreach testing for hepatitis B in high-risk ethnic communities in Sheffield using dried blood spot testing and community education.
2) They tested 231 people from 2012-2011, finding several cases of chronic hepatitis B infection.
3) Feedback showed full acceptance of the outreach strategy and testing method, facilitating diagnosis and access to treatment for at-risk groups.

The angle of each half of the rope from the dashed line is 1.9 degrees, found by taking the inverse tangent of the ratio of half the rope's length to the total length. The tension in each half of the rope where the force F is exerted is calculated to be 8.3 × 103 N by dividing the given force by twice the sine of the angle between the halves.
Pink Floyd's album protagonist Pink is attempting to connect with anyone outside of his self-imposed isolation by repeatedly asking "Is there anybody out there?". However, he receives no response, suggesting he remains alone with his thoughts.
The presentation discusses experiences with companies that declared bankruptcy and the consequences for entrepreneurs. No support services exist for this vulnerable group, who often struggle with poverty, health issues, and social exclusion after bankruptcy. Barriers to restarting their careers include damaged credibility, lack of banking services, and the stigma of past failure.
The document maps problems faced by self-employed individuals after bankruptcy. Many become hopelessly stuck in poverty and immobilization due to unfinished bankruptcy procedures, psychological distress, and difficulty accessing
This document discusses the torques exerted by 8 people on opposite sides of a seesaw. It calculates that the largest torque out of the page is 990 N·m, due to person 2 weighing 330 N and being 3 m from the fulcrum. The largest torque into the page is also 990 N·m, due to person 7 also weighing 330 N and being 3 m from the fulcrum.
The retail site selection checklist examines several key factors for evaluating potential retail locations, including:
Local demographics like population density, household income, age makeup, and nearby traffic from workers, students, and tourists. Traffic flow and accessibility like numbers of vehicles and pedestrians passing the location daily and access to major highways and transit. Retail competition including the trade area size, types and numbers of existing stores, and analysis of direct competitors and their vulnerability. Site characteristics such as parking availability, delivery access, visibility from streets, lot size and shape, and building condition. Regulatory factors involving zoning, building codes, signage rules, licensing, and restrictive lease clauses.
This document provides rules for determining if a number is divisible by other numbers without doing calculations. It explains:
- A number is divisible by another if the result of dividing them is a whole number
- Zero is divisible by any number
- To check if a number is divisible by 2, look if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8
- To check if a number is divisible by 3, add the digits and see if the sum is divisible by 3
- To check if a number is divisible by 6, see if it is divisible by both 2 and 3
- Other rules include checking the last digits or doing multiple divisions to determine divisibility by 4, 5, 8, or
