This document summarizes a review of literature on value sensitive design (VSD) for assistive technologies that address age-related cognitive decline. The review found that VSD has focused on technologies that support physical functioning but not relationships or social personhood. The authors argue that issues of power in the understanding and application of technology need to be considered for VSD to help technologies better support personhood during cognitive decline. They propose a conceptual framework for VSD that incorporates an understanding of power relationships to design technologies that empower rather than dominate individuals experiencing age-related cognitive changes.
Southern Theories for ICT4D
This paper suggests that the dominance of northern research paradigms in ICT4D may be viewed as a continuation of colonial sway over the endeavors of the global South. The notion of Southern Theory - as introduced in the work of Raewyn Connell, the Comaroffs, and others - may be a route by which re-searchers in the global South can reclaim the intellectual territory of ICT4D, with indigenous and regional research paradigms and theories rather than those simply absorbed from the global North.

Gramsci and Foucault: Hegemony in the Global Episteme
This document provides an overview and comparison of the theorists Antonio Gramsci and Michel Foucault. Kreps is working with Sigma on a knowledge transfer partnership to research how to better understand and design for non-reversible user experiences through UX monitoring and adaptive personalization.
Performing the discourse of sexuality online
This document discusses how sexuality is performed online, specifically through gay social networking and video sharing sites. It describes how sites allow users to create profiles detailing their interests, fetishes and types of men they are attracted to. Users can also share amateur pornography videos of themselves which are then rated by other users. This illustrates Foucault's concepts of the body as an idea and sexuality as discourse, as users' bodies are constituted through performing sexual roles for others online. Mark Zuckerberg's $21.8 billion purchase of WhatsApp allows Facebook to gain access to private conversations and data mine them to gain insights into societal trends and target advertising. However, some argue this level of access to private conversations and data mining of populations raises privacy and democratic concerns, as billionaire elites and security services may attempt to "herd" populations without public consent.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
