There are three main types of 3D printers: photopolymerization printers which solidify liquid resin using light or lasers layer by layer; SLS or laser printers which use a laser to melt and solidify powdered raw materials layer by layer; and extrusion printers, which are the most common, that heat and extrude plastic filament in layers.

 According to the technology that we used to build
the piece, we can define three types of 3D
printers:

3. PHOTOPOLYMERIZATION
 The printer illuminates
a liquid by a light or
laser.
 This, when it’s
illuminated, solidifies.

have finished the
process.

4. SLS OR LASER
 These are the printers that are use in industry.
The raw material is in powder form, in a "pool",
and a laser is used to melt and solidify the piece.

5. EXTRUSION
 Most 3D printers are of this type. It starts from
plastic filament that is heated to melt and layer by
layer is deposited.
