Turkey's machinery and accessories export to Kazakhstan totaled $96.5 million in 2011, a 22% increase while Kazakhstan's overall machinery import fell. Kazakhstan, with an area 3.5 times larger than Turkey, has abundant oil and natural gas reserves and its economy depends heavily on oil exports. Strategic partners Russia and China are major partners of Kazakhstan and China has become its leading partner in recent years especially in energy. Turkey broke records exporting foundry machinery to Kazakhstan, with exports totaling $97 million in 2011, led by $14 million in seed processing machines and $10 million in refrigeration equipment.
