Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

Pembangunan blog dan website merupakan kursus yang ditawarkan oleh pihak universiti
dibawah sub-kursus penggayaan diri. Tugasan yang diberikan secara berkumpulan dan tajuk
yang diberikan ialah membandingkan serta menilai kriteria laman web attau blog yang
berkualiti.Tugasan ini memerlukan setiap pelajar mencari laman web atau blog yang
mempunyai perbezaan ketara dari segi kriteria yang telah ditetapkan. Pelajar juga digalakan
mengambil 2 jenis blog atau web yang berbeza bagi memudakan segala penilaian dapat
dilakukan dengan jelas dan tepat.
Kami memilih untuk menilai website berbanding blog disebabkan kandungan website
lebih banyak dan mudah dinilai berbanding blog. Web yang menjadi dipilih bagi memenuhi
tugasan ini ialah laman portal rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Shah Alam dan Majlis Perbandaran
Kuantan.

1.0 Mengoptimumkan pengalaman pengguna
Masa yang diperuntukkan untuk melayari laman web (http://www.mbsa.gov.my/)
adalah lebih pantas berbanding laman web ( http://www.mpk.gov.my/ ). Hal demikian
berlaku mungkin disebabkan oleh gambar yang terlalu banyak dalam laman web tersebut.
Selain itu, reka bentuk bagi laman web ( http://www.mbsa.gov.my/ ) juga adalah lebih
mudah untuk dilayari dan mudah bagi pengguna untuk mencari maklumat. Hal demikian
adalah disebabkan oleh penyusunan kotak menu yang terdapat dalam laman web tersebut.

adalah lebih jelas dan memudahkan pengguna untuk mencari sesuatu maklumat. Dalam
laman Portal Rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan ini, pautan dan label digunakan dalam
bentuk teks seperti Laman Utama, Info MPK, Info Kuantan, Perkhidmatan, Berita &
Peristiwa serta Sumber. Pelanggan yang mahu menggunakan laman portal ini hanya perlu ke
label yang disediakan bagi mencari sesuatu maklumat. Berbeza pula dengan laman web rasmi
Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam.

Laman web rasmi Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam turut menggunakan teks dalam
pautan dan label namun berbeza daripada pautan pada laman portal Majlis Bandaraya
Kuantan. Pautan yang digunakan dalam laman web Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam adalah
secara umum dan ini agak menyukarkan pengguna untuk mencari sesuatu maklumat. Pautan
yang digunakan adalah MBSA, Komuniti, Shah Alam dan Warga MBSA.

3.0 Page layout
Laman portal Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam meletakkan item-item penting secara
konsisten yang mana keseluruhan item diletakkan di dalam kotak yang mana di atasnya
mempunyai maklumat utama pencarian. Kotak disusun secara konsisten dan tidak berselerak
pandangan pengunjung laman tersebut.

Bagi portal rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan pula, maklumat pencarian boleh dilihat
agak tidak konsisten, sedikit tidak teratur, yang mana mempunyai maklumat pada bahagian
tengah dan kedua-dua sisi bahagian tepi laman tersebut yang mana padat dan agak
menyerabutkan mata pengunjung yang ingin mencari maklumat di laman portal tersebut.

Item-item penting pada laman rasmi portal Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam diletakkan
dibahagian tengah secara mendatar, yang mana hanya mempunyai 2 barisan maklumat yang
mana memuatkan 6 kotak yang mengisi senarai item-item daripada maklumat utama yang
ingin dicari oleh pengunjung portal tersebut. Penjimatan ruang dapat dilakukan oleh
pengunjung. Pada laman portal rasmi Perbandaran Kuantan, maklumat penting diletakkan
dibahagian tengah laman portal secara menegak dan tidak memfokuskan hanya di bahagian
atas sahaja, malah ada juga pencarian maklumat di letakkan dibahagian bawah halaman
tersebut.
Kedua-dua laman tersebut dilihat menyusun halaman untuk kemudahan
perbandingan, pada laman portal rasmi Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam dapat dilihat maklumat
utama yang ingin disampaikan seperti pengumuman, berita, perkhidmatan MBSA, tender
sebut harga dan lain-lain diletakkan dibahagian atas dan dihighlightkan. Item yang berkaitan
dengan maklumat utama tersebut diletakkan di dalam kotak. Imej-imej pautan juga diletakkan
di dalam kotak mengikut ketegori masing-masing. Ini dapat memudahkan pengunjung portal
tersebut membuat perbandingan tentang maklumat mana yang mereka ingin dan tidak ingin

disusun secara menegak, yang mana pengunjung perlu scroll down untuk mencari maklumat
yang berada di bahagian bawah laman tersebut, disebabkan oleh faktor tersebut penggunaan
scroll down bagi laman ini juga lebih banyak berbanding laman Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam
yang mana laman tersebut menghadkan penggunaan laman tersebut dengan menyusun
maklumat secara mendatar. Kedua-dua laman ini tidak mempunyai scrolling secara
horizontal.

Laman Web Rasmi Majlis Bandarya Shah Alam meletakan latar bekang berwarna
biru dan tulisan teks berwarna hitam menjadikan portal tersebut jelas kerana warna teks dan
latarbelakang berlainan warna dan sesuai dipaparkan manakala logo yang dipamerkan jelas
dapat dilihat kerana latarbelakang yang cerah menonjolkan lagi logo yang terdapat disitu.
Seterusnya, imej yang digunakan portal ini terlalu ringkas dan sukar difahami kerana
tidak berkaitan dengan apa yang ingin disampaikan kepada umum dan label yang perlu diklik
untuk ke halaman lain begitu menarik kerana terdapat gambar untuk di klik apabila ingin ke
halaman seterusnya.
Selain itu, visual yang digunakan konsisten kerana maklumat yang ingin disampaikan
berkaitan dengan visual yang dipaparkan memudahkan umum memahami perkara yang
disampaikan dan Majlis Pembandaran Shah Alam tidak memgunakan sebarang video
,animasi atau audio, portal ini hanya menggunakan imej sebenar sebagai iklan.
Logo bagi Majlis Pembandaran Shah Alam di paparkan di setiap iklan tetapi tidak
konsisten kerana berana di kedudukan yang berlainan disetiap iklan yang dipamerkan dan
saiz banner yang digunakan amat bersesuaian dengan maklumat yang ingin disampaikan dan
menarik untuk dibaca oleh setiap lapisan.

Portal Rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan menggunakan latarbelakang yang agak
menarik apabila meletakan warna cerah iaitu biru cerah tetapi tulisan pada latarbelakang
tersebut agak tergangu kerana warna biru pada teks tersebut hampir sama dengan warna
latarbelakng. Seterusnya logo yang terdapat di situ juga tidak jelas disebabkan penggunaan
warna yang tidak sesuai kerana latarbelakang dan logo keduanya adalah warna cerah.
Seterusnya, Imej yang digunakan ringkas dan jelas manakalah tulisan terdapat pada
portal tersebut mudah difahami dan label untuk diklik hanya terdapat pada nombor untuk ke
satu halaman yang lain serta imej yang dipaparkan begitu menarik dan cepat serta mudah
untuk difahami.
Selain itu, visual yang digunakan konsisten kerana segala pemberitahuan mempunyai
kaitan dengan visual dan Majlis Pembandaran Kuantan tidak memgunakan sebarang video
,animasi atau audio, portal ini hanya menggunakan imej sebenar sebagai iklan.

laman Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam mengoptimumkan pencapaian dengan menyusun item-
item secara tersusun di bawah maklumat utama yang dihighlightkan. Pengguna boleh pergi
ke capaian yang mereka inginkan dengan cepat, dengan penyusunan item yang teratur. Bagi
laman rasmi portal Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan pula kelihatan elemen yang disusun sedikit
tidak mengoptimumkan pencapaian pengguna. Penyusunan tidak disusun secara teratur.
Maklumat berada di bahagian tengah juga di kedua-dua bahagian sisi laman tersebut.

memerlukan scroll down yang banyak untuk melihat maklumat yang berada di bawah.
Penjimatan ruang tidak dilakukan dengan spesifik dan agak berterabur.
Kedua-dua halaman portal ini menggunakan format yang bersesuaian, menggunakan
tulisan tidak terlalu besar dan kecil, menggunakan bold pada maklumat penting dan
menggunakan tulisan yang boleh dibaca oleh pengguna dengan jelas. Kedu-duanya juga
mempunyai perkaita dalam satu senarai, kebiasaannya maklumat utama diletakkan diahagian
atas, dan item-item selanjutnya yang berkaitan dengan maklumat tersebut diletakkan
dibahagian bawahnya.

Laman Portal Majlis Perbandaran Shah Alam ( MBSA) menggunakan tajuk yang jelas
serta mudah dilihat namun terpaksa “click” di tajuk berkenaan bagi mendapatkan pautan.
Namun, berbeza bagi portal rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan yang menggunakan warna
yang terang memudahkan tulisan tajuk dapat dilihat disamping jelas.Tajuk ini juga tidak
perlu “click” dan hanya perlu membawa cursor dibahagian tajuk dan senarai pautan dapat
dilihat.

Penggunaan langkah jujukan pelaksanaan dapat dilihat apabila portal rasmi Majlis
Perbandaran Shah Alam tidak tersusun disebabkan tidak menggunakan susunan huruf dan
abjad ABC yang betul berbanding portal laman rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan. Selain
itu, kedua-dua website dan laman rasmi majlis perbandaraan ini tidak menggunakan istilah
pelik atau jargon yang menyukarkan pengguna memahami setiap maksud yang dimaksudkan
di laman berkenaan.

kecil dan besar manakala portal Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan menggunakan huruf besar bagi
setiap tajuk utama di laman berkenaan. Kedua-dua laman portal rasmi ini menggunakan
perkataan dan bilangan ayat yang minimum bagi memudakan pengguna selesa dan tidak
berasa pening untuk melayari website berkenaan.
Susunan maklumat yang yang jelas dan logik dipaparkan kepada pengguna bagi
kedua-dua laman portal rasmi. Bagi isi kadungan pula dapat dilihat,laman portal rasmi Majlis
Perbandaran Kuantan memaparkan segala pengumunan terus ke dalam laman utama. Namun
bagi laman portal rasmi Majlis Perbandara Shah Alam meletakkan segala maklumat
mengikut kategori bagi memudahkan pengguna mencari maklumat berdasarkan kategori yang
ditetapkan. Dari segi pencarian maklumat, portal rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Shah Alam lebih
cepat dan menjimatkan masa apabila telah diletakkan dalam kategori khas manakal laman
portal rasmi Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan pula hanya meletakkan isu-isu semasa atau
pengumuman penting dalam laman rasmi. Hal ini menyebabkan, kesukaran pengguna
melaksanakan pencarian maklumat dengan pantas serta mengambil masa yang lama.

Kesimpulannya, kedua-dua laman web ini mempunyai kelebihan dan kekurangan bagi
setiap kriteria, Namun, setiap kategori mahupun kriteria yang telah dinilai boleh diperbaiki
dan dibaikpulih bagi melancarkan penggunaan laman web tersebut serta tersusun. Setiap
laman web yang tersusun menarik minat pengguna untuk kerap menggunakan laman website
berkenaan berbanding laman web yang sukar serta lambat.
