Our class visited the Happy Valley Cemetery where we learned several things. We saw that some tombstones did not have bodies buried underneath, and many graves belonged to young children and soldiers. Fresh soil indicated more recent burials, and some visitors left fake flowers on graves. Favorite photos included one showing a body was buried underneath due to a small bump in the soil, and another of a soldier's grave. Questions remained about small graves, strange numbering systems on tombstones, and how engraving was done. Most deaths at the cemetery occurred due to sickness rather than old age, poverty or drowning.
