The Lions Club of Lutong Miri and Lions Club of Lambir Miri jointly organized an environmental tree planting project on July 20, 2009 at the Basketball Court in Lutong Miri. A total of six tanjung trees were planted with the participation of 17 people, including the International Director Hjh Ellis Suriyati Hj Omar and presidents from other Lions Clubs in the region. The goal of the project was to raise environmental awareness in the local community and create a comfortable outdoor space for public activities.
The Lions Club of Lambir Miri organized a community project at the Methodist Kindergarten Krokop on September 19, 2009. They contributed RM 10,000 to the kindergarten for operating funds. Over 200 students benefited from this project. District Governor Karen Koh and other Lions Club dignitaries were in attendance to present the mock cheque and show support for helping the local community.

The launch featured speeches and demonstrations of reducing plastic bag usage.
The 1 Malaysia Merdeka Children Colouring Contest was jointly organized by three Lions Clubs at the Boulevard Shopping Mall. Over 600 children participated in three age groups and enjoyed door prizes. The goals were to promote unity and the spirit of Merdeka. Winners had their photos taken with dignitaries including the Mayor and State Assemblyman. The event was a success in bringing the community together.
