Synchronized swimming began in Canada in 1920 and became an Olympic sport in 1984. Competitions can be individual, pairs, or group and consist of technical and free exercises within time limits. One of the most famous current synchronized swimmers is Gemma Mengual, who is a world sub-champion and has won numerous medals and prizes.
