The Quest for Love
Tommy Goldfinn, the oldest and wisest of all goldfish lived alone in his bowl for his
whole life. And next to Tommy and his bowl, was another filled with Judith and her 3 baby
goldfish. Tommy Goldfinn had lived beside Judith for a year. He remembered the day she and
her bowl showed up. It was a nice mid-summer evening and Tommy was practicing his
swimming when suddenly another bowl just like his own was placed right beside him. Minutes
later, Judith, the most beautiful goldfish Tommy had ever seen was placed in the new sparkling
bowl with 3 baby goldfish. It was love at first sight, and on that day Tommy Goldfinn’s quest to
be with his one true love, Judith began.
The story fast-forwards to October 14, 2014, a day that will go down in goldfish lore, and
the day a goldfish jumps out of water. Tommy Goldfinn is a very old goldfish, almost 2 years
old, ancient in goldfish years. With that said, Tommy’s love for Judith had only grown stronger
by day, and he could no longer live alone without being with Judith. Throughout Tommy’s life
he has been an extraordinary swimmer, some say the greatest swimmer of all the goldfish. And
Tommy had devised a plan that day, propelling himself out of the water using his powerful
swimming to leap into Judith’s bowl. Now at Tommy’s old age, he had only one chance at
history and love. Tommy was preparing for the jump by swimming some laps in his bowl. His
tail thrusting through the water propelling him at an incredible pace, a Goldfinn pace. The time
came for the jump and he was ready.
Tommy swam to the bottom of the bowl to get ready for the jump. Judith watching from
her bowl understanding what is at risk. Tommy could make it and they could live out their days
together with her children, or he could miss and fall to his death. The time came for the jump and
Tommy Goldfinn rushed to the top with a speed he had never achieved, and launched himself
into the air only inches away from Judith and the bowl. Tommy dove the water in the opposite
bowl and sank to the bottom exhausted from the feat that had just been done. Judith swam to his
side to accompany him, to finally be with Tommy. He had achieved legendary status and would
go down as the greatest goldfish of all time. Tommy, Judith, and her children would live out the
rest of their days together with the story of the great Tommy Goldfinn being passed down from
generation to generation for years to come.
