Col. Goh Lye Choon, a 74-year-old retired colonel, is participating in this year's National Day Parade mobile column, 46 years after being a pioneering member of the first mobile column in 1969. He will ride in the Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tank. The mobile column has grown from 18 tanks in 1969 to 177 assets from the SAF, police, and SCDF this year. It will feature the country's most advanced military equipment to celebrate SG50. Col. Goh hopes to relive the pride and cheers he experienced during the first mobile column and to share his experiences with the younger generations now responsible for Singapore's defense.
