4. Indigo Hotel, York
Client: Sojourn Hotels / Intercontinental Hotel Group
Working closely with Matthews Mee Ltd, we were briefed to put together a scheme based on the history of the
Walmgate area of York. Detailed research was carried out to discover the heritage and story of the site so that
the decor provided an authentic experience for the customer and a chance for interaction with the guests.
All of the imagery used throughout the 101 bedrooms is original photography or graphics related to specific
businesses and stories from the locality. We discovered a saddler had been active on the site in the 1800's
so we had a saddler hand make the leather frames you see in many of the bedrooms. In total over 2500 individual
Art & Interior items were supplied to Indigo York. These were all researched, manufactured, resourced,
scheduled, delivered and installed to site within budget and to deadline.
The hotel has been very well received by Sojourn, IHG and, just as importantly to us, from the trip advisor ratings
you can see the customers love it too!
6. Genting Dream Cruise Ship
Client: Genting Dream
Working on Asia’s pioneering luxury cruise line was a fabulous opportunity for the TL Contracts team in 2016.
Artwork & Artifacts were both manufactured in house and sourced from exclusive international collections and
curated to provide spaces with a high end considered feel throughout. As this ship was built primarily for the
discerning Chinese customer we had to ensure anything we proposed or manufactured was checked by our
expert for cultural sensitivities. We have already been invited to work on the second ship due for 2017 which is
incredible feedback.
8. Holiday Inn Reception, Northampton
Client: Splendid Hospitality / IHG
Working on such a household name was an exciting prospect and when the brief came through we set to work
making it as personal to the site as possible. Looking into the history of Northampton, of cobblers, the home of
British racing and British Aeronautical manufacturing industry we discovered many topics that would convert
well into art & display items. We commissioned artists to make small scale sculptural items to display in the
dresser alcoves, some shoes and racing cars hand made from wire were particularly beautiful and helped
establish the story of Northampton through 3d work.
10. Starbucks Heathrow T5A
Client: SSP Group PLC
We were approached by SSP to take a look at the drawings for a polycarbonate 'Coffee Bean' canopy to a
flagship Starbucks within Terminal 5A Heathrow. The canopy itself would be over forty square metres and our in
house graphics team designed a map of the world using life sized coffee beans. This could be viewed from
underneath and above the canopy and seen throughout T5A. The coffee regions of the world were highlighted
with internal LED strip light and even though we were working effectively in 3D due to the tubular nature of the
design, each continent, and in some cases most of the countries, were clearly defined with realistic textured
edges. Each one of the 222 tubes were individually hand wrapped to ensure the design worked seamlessly from
every angle. Heathrow has one of the toughest health & safety processes to pass and after initial meetings with
their dedicated team our documentation and schedule of works passed with flying colours. The end result is a
stunning art installation. You literally cannot miss the structure from any part of the departure lounge and the
response from the client has been incredibly positive.
12. The Viper Rooms, Kingston
Client: Harewood Venues Ltd
This was a job our graphic design team really had fun with. Briefed with designing artwork that would be gritty,
industrial and the talking point for the club. In Room 1 we used optical illusions covering both the walls and
ceilings to play with customer perspectives as they entered the venue. In Room 2 we used a more polished
graffiti style that covered the ceiling bulkhead and ran into the main wall seamlessly. All the wallpapers were
printed on a one piece, wipe clean, heavy grade, vinyl backed paper that eliminated any joints on the walls. This
artwork style was also used on the venue window vinyl’s. The final part of the project was to stencil artwork to a
breeze block wall.
14. Aurora Cruise Ship
Client: P&O Cruise Lines
Aurora was our third cruise ship, working directly for the clients art consultancy based in the UK. Sindhu
Restaurant was a fabulous commission to produce simple yet striking replica stone wall installations. We started
the process by laser cutting individual tiles and creating the spiral style patterns which were then turned into
moulds and cast in our very own resin & stone mix. We also worked on the library area of the ship, a Champions
Sports Bar a social space for teenagers and worked on the design of wall murals.
16. Various Sites
Working with restaurants, nightclubs, pubs, hotels, cruise ships and for residential clients both in the UK and
Internationally we are the people to make even the most outlandish graphic design ideas come to life. We can
help with geometric designs, hand drawn character work, photo montage, bespoke illustrations and many more
styles.
18. NEET Centre
Tendring Education Trust
Schools worldwide are becoming multi layered, inspiring places of learning and with this they are moving
forward on a design level to create inspiring environments. This is especially true for children who are not as
engaged with traditional learning. We were invited to design & implement several areas of a school through
graphics, furniture, wallpaper and key features to really bring the learning to life.
20. Various Sites
Client: JD Wetherspoon
We have been working for JD Wetherspoon for many years, supplying mirrors to bathrooms, bespoke graphic
wallpapers to staffroom and general areas, sculpture, interior and exterior planting and lots of well-researched
local interest artwork. JD Wetherspoon have always invested in good quality artwork and decor that helps tell
the story of their sites and our montage wallpapers with blended imagery always have a great impact. We have
also provided artwork and large graphic panels for Head Office in Watford which has been incredibly well
received.
22. Getaway Ship
Client: Norwegian Cruise Line
We were approached by an international art consultancy to create these fabulous wall panels for a bar called
Mojito on their new ship Getaway. We created sketches in response to the brief, which was botanical but taken
slightly into the abstract by creating close up detailed studies. Once the layout sketches were approved, we then
had our artist do a small scale Marquette which would give the client a tactile sample they could approve. When
the go ahead had been received, our wood carver turned the sketches into reality. These were then metal coated
to give each a deep, rich rust like patina. Our sculptures were hand delivered in our own vehicles to the shipping
yard in Germany.
24. The Canteen
Client: University of Essex
In stage one of this project we installed pre-fabricated metal screens and cages. These heavy industrial pieces
were built from rolled steel and steel mesh, which was then clear powder coated to stop any rusting and to make
sure the product was food safe. We also installed a bespoke clock and ceiling vinyl. In Stage two we installed
matching steel wall display units and vintage kitchen bric-a-brac. Finally in stage three we installed matching
metal counter cladding with laser cut steel logos.
26. Abel Heywood, Manchester
Client: Hydes Brewery Ltd
It is a rare treat when you get to work in your hometown and this was a fabulous flagship site for Hydes Brewery.
When the survey of the building was being carried out the project manager found some wonderful old receipts
for the sale of cotton in 1896 from this very building. This started a wonderful exploration of the cotton trade in
Manchester, the results of which we displayed in the carefully framed artwork on the ground floor. We had a
dedicated space for recognised and emerging Manchester artists and this allowed us to work with some
fabulous new talent from the local area in a variety of mediums. The first floor was the wider ranging history of
Manchester, the story of print and the characters of days gone by in the Northern Quarter where the pub is
situated. Frames were mostly hand painted to give an aged and eclectic feel and each of the hotel bedroom
numbers was a Local Penny Guide printed directly onto wood.
30. Hungry Horse Various Sites
Client: Greene King
We were approached by a long-standing design client, to propose new art & interior decor features for the
Hungry Horse brand. Moving away from the traditional definitions of pub art being framed pictures, we proposed
vibrant, layered, family wall features, lots of 3D wall pieces linked to the local history and when we did use
framed artwork it was always with bright pops of colour to the mounts and frames.
