3. Trust Your ERP System!
Feel lucky if you’re using an ERP system in your company. You
can feel better if you’re using a rather developed one like SAP
or Oracle.
ERP Systems already have built-in processes within.
Understanding these processes might help you to better see
relationships between different functions of the business.
Already established know-how within the ERP system might
help you design a more robust process.

4. Calculate Financial Impact!
It is true that some process changes / creations are due to
legal issues, organizational regulations and so on. But keep
in mind that most of them should be designed to gain more
efficiency ( event the legally mandatory ones)
Always support your reasoning by financial impacts and
figures.
Increase the emphasize on financial figures as the
management level you’ll present gets higher.
Do not be so naive to think that your new process is
approved just because of its ingenuity or technical beauty.

5. Be careful by designing the roles!
Do not underestimate role distribution within the process
chain. Even a single transaction might take great resistance
from people. Do not dictate but always propose, even in the
most clear case.
For example: Never use “and supplier accountant should
book the invoice” but instead try “i propose this step to be
executed by supplier accountant” and listen for the
response.
Leave final decision of the role assignment to the business
itself.

6. Broaden your view!
Even the most simplistic processes might have impact at
different points of the organization.
Be sure that you have included all parties related to the
subject.
Don’t be so mean when inviting people to the meetings.
Taking a few more to the boards is always better than
leaving them apart.

8. Be ZEN, Always!
Always follow the ZEN path. Be simple, realistic and as lean
as possible.
If a process is more efficient to do manual, then do it manual
although the automation looks charming.
Be sure you understand the meaning of the phrase ” A journey
of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.
