25. In 1987, China had it first triathlon in Hainan Sanya. The group consisted of Fifty Five
Competitors. Most of the competitors where factory works (from the local city factory)
and rice farmers. The oldest competitor was 65 year Old (youngest 21 Years Old). When
asked why they competed, they reply “they wanted to see who was better runners or
swimmers.”
Fast Forward to 2010, Dalian is alive with sports everywhere, with people are riding,
running or swimming. Even with the profusion of Dalian Triathletes, there were no
events to compete in. Forcing athletes to travel elsewhere, to compete.
Dalian Tieren brings these famous athletes, home, to compete in Dalian’s First
International Triathlon.
TIE REN HISTORY
31. Swim Course Description: 1.9 km
The saltwater ocean swim starts and finishes on the south side
of Golden Pebble Beach. The swim course is an elongated
Triangle over one-half kilometer long and 100 yards wide.
Athletes must swim in a clockwise direction, keeping the buoy
markers to their right. Yellow buoys will mark the way out,
orange buoys will mark the way in and red buoys will mark the
turns. With a projected water temperature of 16-18 degrees on
race day, wetsuits will likely be permitted.
32. Bike Course Description: 90.1 km
After exiting T1 at Golden Pebble Beach, athletes head east
across Harbin Middle Road and through downtown JinZhou
District. The bike course is extremely fast and includes a few
challenging inclines over the YinTan Road and JinHai Bridge.
Three (3) aid stations will keep the athletes well fueled during
the bike portion.

33. Run Course Description: 21.1 km
The run is a there-and-back course that is both challenging and
scenic. The route incorporates two steep ascents up the Harbin
West Road with long stretches along Golden Pebble Beach and
HeJu Village. The run turnaround, located at the 6 KM mark,
making this a spectator friendly route. Run course aid stations
are posted at every mile. The run finishes just North of Golden
Pebble Beach Swim Start.

Dalian Discoveryland Hotel is an affiliated hotel of Discoveryland Kingdoms of Discovery, is a
luxurious four-star vacation hotel. Dalian Discoveryland Hotel is located inside of
Discoveryland Kingdoms of Discovery, adjacent to Dalian's most famous Gold Coast natural
bathing beach, the surrounding environment is very beautiful. The exterior architectural design
is in a classic European style and the interior decoration is mainly in Japanese style. Opened
in 2008.
