The Signs of Easter - May 26, 2019 The 6th Sunday of EasterRedeemerWV
Signs. Signs. Everywhere are signs...
But are there really? Sunday we'll be hearing again the story of the conversion of Lydia told in Acts 16. We see a heart opened by God that hears the Word and receives the gifts from Word and Baptism to create faith. Then we see evidence of that faith in good works.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. 2nd Thursday: THE DIGNITY OF
THE HUMAN PERSON
God said, “Let us make man in our own
image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let
them be masters of the fish of the sea, the
birds of heaven…. God created man in the
image of himself, in the image of God he
created him, male and female he created
them. God blessed them, saying to them,
“Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth….” And
so it was. God saw all he had made, and
indeed it was very good (from Genesis
1:26-31).
3. INVOCATION TO
THE HOLY SPIRIT
1. Come, O Spirit Creator, visit our minds; fill
the hearts you have created with your grace.
2. Be light to the intellect, a burning flame in
the heart; heal our wounds with the balm of
your love.
3. Glory be to God the Father and to the Son
who is arisen, and to the Spirit Paraclete
forever and ever.
Amen.
4. FROM THE LIFE OF
ST. RITA
Rita learned to read and write from her
parents. Therefore, she succeeded in having a
simple and elementary culture and this was
very valuable in an age of almost complete
illiteracy. She was thus able to know herself
better and others and develop her intelligence
and will to the service of the good. St. Rita
teaches us to discover the great value of our
personal self and to respect and promote the
dignity of every human person, from children
to the elderly, from the human embryo to the
terminally ill. Every human life is sacred.
5. PRAYER TO
SAINT RITA
I greet you, Rita, vessel of love,
woman of peace and model of all virtues,
faithful disciple of Jesus.
Saint of the family and of forgiveness,
help us to believe that everything
is possible for God
and always aid us in every need.
Amen.
6. LITANICAL
PRAYER

(all say) Thank you, Lord.
For the dignity you have given them*
For freedom and intelligence*
For free will and feelings*
For the uniqueness of each human person*

For the perfection of the human embryo*
For the immortality of our souls*
For the future resurrection of our bodies*
7. THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
Thy Kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
8. CONCLUDING
PRAYER
You are the only living and true God.
The universe is full of your presence but
above all in man, created in your image,
you have imprinted the sign of your
glory. You are calling man to cooperate
through his daily work in the plan of
creation and you give him your Spirit so
that in Christ, the new man, he may
become a builder of justice and peace.
To you the praise and glory for ever.
Amen.
9. ACT OF
CONVERSION

complain about your life or
the life of others. Help the

are fighting against
abortion and promoting
life.
