Muhammad, the prophet of islam, sent for one of his men, al-Zubair. So he came to
see him.
It was a cold night and Muhammad was under his quilt with one of his wives.
So he let him in and they became three under the quilt!

A Shia Islam* story

One day, Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, was travelling with his wife Aisha and
his cousin Ali*. When the night fell, they stopped to get some rest.
Then, they realized they had only one quilt. So, Muhammad, his wife Aisha and his
cousin Ali spent the night together under the same quilt.
Muhammad slept between Aisha and Ali. But when he got up for the night's prayer,
Aisha and Ali did not get up.

2. Aisha, the "Mother of Believers" and Ali, the "Prince of Believers" did not get up
for the night's prayer. They stayed in bed!
In order to make sure there is no "touching", Muhammad pushed the quilt between
them until it touched the mattress beneath.
*Ali ibn Abi Taleb: The cousin and son-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and
ruled over the Islamic Caliphate from 656 to 661 and was the first male convert to Islam.

Ali ibn Abi Talib said: "..and I travelled with the Messenger of Allah, he had no
servant other than me. And he had a quilt, he had no quilt other than this one.
Aisha was with him. And the Messenger of Allah slept between me and Aisha, the
three of us had no quilt on us other than this one. When he got up for the night's
prayer he pushed the quilt with his hand, from its center, between me and Aisha
until it touched the mattress beneath us.."
