This is the MIAA Background: The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) has eleven institutions of  higher education throughout the states of Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska that compete athletically at the NCAA Division II level while also contributing to the academic and  community engagement pursuits of student-athletes in eleven area communities in the  Midwest region of the country as well as the Kansas City metro. This is the MIAA  Community Engagement/Service: The MIAA (and NCAA Division II nationally) is committed to community engagement and  service more so than any other level of intercollegiate athletics ( www.diicommunity.org ). MIAA student-athletes and coaches will continue to implement this initiative through visits  to organizations such as Operation Breakthrough and through other activities organized in  conjunction with championship events in the Kansas City metro. The MIAA is willing to provide administrators, coaches and student-athletes for a variety of community engagement, service, outreach and promotional events in the Kansas City area when possible.
This is the MIAA Championship Events: The MIAA currently conducts conference championships in eight men’s and nine  women’s sports including the following events that will be held in Kansas City in 2009: Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship  March 5-8, 2009  (Municipal Auditorium) Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship April 19-21, 2009  (Shoal Creek Golf Club)  Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championship April 25-26, 2009  (Plaza Tennis Center) Women’s Softball Championship May 1-3, 2009  (Site TBD) Men’s Baseball Championship May 8-10, 2009  (Community America   Ballpark) Key Marketing Information: *   The MIAA has an alumni base in excess of 80,000 people living in the Kansas City metro. * The MIAA Official Web Site,  www.themiaa.com , averages 20,000 unique visitors and  more than 100,000 pages viewed monthly. * The premiere conference event, the MIAA Basketball Championship, has averaged over 15,000 fans during its six years at historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City.
