The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) comprises eleven institutions competing in NCAA Division II, focusing on academics and community engagement in the Kansas City metro area. The MIAA is committed to community service and hosts numerous championship events, particularly in 2009, enhancing local engagement and drawing substantial fan attendance. This is the MIAA Background: The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) has eleven institutions of higher education throughout the states of Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska that compete athletically at the NCAA Division II level while also contributing to the academic and community engagement pursuits of student-athletes in eleven area communities in the Midwest region of the country as well as the Kansas City metro. This is the MIAA Community Engagement/Service: The MIAA (and NCAA Division II nationally) is committed to community engagement and service more so than any other level of intercollegiate athletics ( www.diicommunity.org ). MIAA student-athletes and coaches will continue to implement this initiative through visits to organizations such as Operation Breakthrough and through other activities organized in conjunction with championship events in the Kansas City metro. The MIAA is willing to provide administrators, coaches and student-athletes for a variety of community engagement, service, outreach and promotional events in the Kansas City area when possible.
