Sam was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious heart defect that doctors said would lead to his death within 3 months. Through prayer and the generosity of strangers in Alabama, Sam received open heart surgery in the US to repair the defect. The surgery was successful, though he later developed complications requiring a second surgery. The doctors and hospital waived over $20,000 in bills, seeing Sam as a miracle. Sam recovered fully and is now a healthy young boy, with his parents attributing his survival to God's grace and blessings.

1. The Story of a True blessing - The Miracle Boy
Sam was born on 1st July 2003, the third Child to Mr. and Mrs Alex Mwathi at the Nairobi Hopital,
Nairobi, Kenya, and East Africa.
On the fourteenth day of his life, the Paedriatician noticed a murmur in his heart and immediately send
us to a Paedriatric cardiologist to investigate on this murmur.
After several tests , conclusion was that Sam had what is called in the medical field Tetrology of Fallot -
in the layman's language "hole in the heart".
The defect - according to the Doctors - was soo bad that our son had a very short time to live - a
maximum of 3 months.
Correction for this defect required open heart surgery. This could not be done in any hospital in Kenya-
due to his tender age.
My wife and I informed our Pastor Bishop John B Masinde and the congregation at Deliverance church
in Umoja , Nairobi Kenya where we are faithfull members. The church started praying for the young man
for healing.
By the grace of God we obtained contacts of Kenyans resident in the Birmingham, Alabama USA -and
specifically Dr. Joseph Karogi. Dr. Joe Karogi contacted the University of Alabama Hospital at
Birmingham and specifically Dr. Edward V. Colvin. He also organized for the funding for the operations
with the Heart to Heart Foundation of Alabama- God bless this man eternally.
The Hospital and the Heart to Heart foundation of Alabama were touched by our mercifull Lord Jesus
Christ and graciously agreed to conduct the open heart surgery at no cost to us - since we would not
have been able to raise the required + USD 80,000 required for the operation.
The operation took place at the University Hospital in June 2004 - one year after the Doctors had
declared that Sam would not live- and was conducted by Profesor Al Pacifico - who has since retired. Our
Lord continously bless this man.
The accomodation at the Hospital was kingly and the staff fell over each other to bless this little angel
who was in their midst - the favour of the Lord was surely on Sam.
Sam went home exactly 3 days after the surgery , which was a miracle for the Hospital. Dr. Joe karogi
had organized for our accomondation for the entire period we were in the USA.
Two weeks after the operation, he developed a further complication and was back on the operating
table. His first birthday was celebrated in the Hospital ward. The Nurses at the Hospital organised for the
birthday cake - and My wife and I were brought to tears by the many gifts that this "strangers"
bestowed on our son whom they had come to love. He still keeps a number of toys to this day.
The best gift was yet to come - Dr. Edward Colvin and the Surgeon Prof. Al Pacifico, (Accompanied by Dr.
Joe Karogi), came to our room and told us that they had been touched by Sam in a way that they could
not explain. They wished him well and desired to know the progress he would make in life. They were

2. sure that he would influence his generation in a great way. They told us that, they knew that we must
have been struggling with the thought of the payment of the Hospital Bills for the second Operation
since the Heart to Heart Foundation Funds were enough for the first surgery only.
Wait for this: The two Doctors had discussed and decided to clear the bill for Sam at the Hospital and for
their individual bills from their own pockets.
My wife and I could not hold back our tears - even at this moment as I write this my eyes are full of tears
due to the joy of knowing that My saviour and Lord Jesus Christ could use "strangers" to bless me with
over US Dollar 20,000.
I have never been the same again.
Each time I share this testimony in congregations - I say like the Isaiah of the Old that - "my eyes have
seen the Lord and He gave me a check of USD 100,000".
We will be eternally gratefull to our Lord and his servant Dr. Joe Karogi, who accepted to be used in
this great way to bless Sam and us.
Sam has grown to be a very smart 4 and a half years Boy - at age 2 he could browse the net to obtain his
favourite games - and is now in pre- school class in Nairobi Kenya.
He is known fondly as the "Prophet Sam"
Our redeemer lives and we have seen Him with our own eyes!!
