This past July… JULY 1, 2016
The Rotary Foundation transferred half of
that $554,821 to our District Designated
Fund (DDF) for the 2016-17 Rotary Year.
The other half went to the World Fund.
So... $277,410 + residual ≈ $396,672 DDF

• 50% + residual ($283,294) goes to
matching funds for Global Grant projects.

Editor's Notes

  • #3 The Foundation is home to several funds: ASK..... Annual Fund, World Fund, Endowment Fund, PolioPlus Fund, numerous Donor Advised Funds
  • #4 We get jaded & fed up hearing about foundations! We’re asked to contribute to foundations for wild animals, for wounded warriors, for inner city youth… A-Rod has his foundation, Jamie Moyer has his… your club has one, my club has one, a majority of the 47 clubs in this district have their own foundations. There are ten’s of thousands of foundations. Today, I’m going to tell you about one that is UNLIKE ANY of those we have mentioned. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International… I’m going to show you how it’s different, how it works for you, and ask you to support it. TRF – with HQ in Evanston is home to several funds: Annual Fund, World Fund, Endowment Fund, PolioPlus Fund… numerous Donor Advised Funds will focus on just two: Annual Fund and World Fund.
  • #5 Via Every Rotarian Every Year And it sat there… earning interest…. And waiting for it’s big day! ASK... WHAT
  • #6 That big day … was this past July 1st… JULY 1, 2015…. When HALF of that money came back to us as DDF…. And the other half went to the World Fund! You will hear more about the World Fund a little later…
  • #7 Earlier, I said the Rotary Foundation was different. How many foundations do you know that – if you gave them $500,000 would give half of it back to you three years later? Reminder: Global Grants >$30,000 budget + Intn’l Partner, & Area of Focus. District Grant is Block Grant for projects with budgets <$30,000.
  • #8 A lot of clubs in D-5030 have their own foundations... If your club has one... Know that The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International does NOT compete with yours.... It augments it to help you do more! Simple as 1...2...3!
  • #9 Where does this club cash come from?? Not from dues! From fundraisers… and often.. from the club’s foundation. So… the clubs put up $15,100 in cash, and District MATCHES it…but wait! There’s more!
  • #10 D5030 matches contributions from D5030 clubs dollar for dollar to a MAX of $15,000 per club. In other words if – in this example – Lynnwood had contributed $20,000, the district match would be just $15,000 to Lynnwood, BUT WOULD REMAIN $5K to each of the other D5030 clubs!
  • #11 ANOTHER GREAT DIFFERENCE: If TRF approves the grant, then TRF provides ADDITIONAL match from the World Fund (remember, that’s where the other half of our contributions three years ago went?!) TRF’s World Fund will match our DDF contribution dollar for dollar… and will match ALL club cash at $0.50 on the dollar. The total now available to the project is $52,650…. 71% of which comes from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
  • #12 If you ever doubted that Rotarians are doing good in their world, remember these numbers!
  • #13 This is just the DDF that you put into humanitarian projects... This is just the MATCHING FUNDS from The Rotary Foundation. To this figure is added your club’s cash contributions. Amount unspent is AS OF NOVEMBER 13, 2016 & OUR DISTRICT GRANT (BLOCK GRANT) WILL BE FOR $142,650 .... AND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO YOU IN EARLY DECEMBER.
  • #20 This is the TOTAL contributions to Annual Fund, Endowment Fund & Other Funds, including PolioPlus.
