This document discusses the role of digital technology in career development. It provides some context on how the internet has evolved and been controversial, and how COVID-19 has changed our relationship with technology and careers. It then explores technology as a social construct and outlines six key metaphors - library, media channel, surveillance camera, marketplace, meeting place, and arena - to link technology and careers. Finally, it examines how technology links to career pedagogy and practice, such as being an instrument, providing guidance over Zoom, being a transformative space, enabling co-careering, allowing critical enquiry, and facilitating debate and action.
