• For an action that is taking place
at this time, but may not be
happening at this moment. Use
time expressions.

• To ask about something that is
happening now.
• Most Wh-questions in the
present progressive use the
same word order as yes/no
questions.
• Who / What = Subject

6. THE SIMPLE PAST
• To tell about things that are
finished.
• The verb form is the same for
all persons.
• Negative: use did not + the
base form of the verb.
• Time markers: at the beginning
or end.

• They have the same form: Did
+ subject + base form for
regular and irregular verbs.
• The verb be is the one
exception.
• Wh- questions in the past do
not use did when the question
is about the subject.
