The Passive Voice
the passive voice is used to talk about something or someone affected by an action by putting emphasis on action and purpose . the use of the passive voice is much more common in English than in Spanish.
the passive voice is formed with the verb "to be" in the same tense as the active verb and participle of the main verb.
Present simple:   • She buys coffee and milk.  • coffee and milk are bought (by her).  • Coffee and milk aren´t bought (by her).  • Are coffee and milk bought (bye her)?
present continuous:   • they are following the thief.  • the thief is being followed (by them).  • the thief isn´t being followed (by them).  • Is the thief being followed (by them)?
present perfect:   • Claire has opened the present.  • the present has been opened by claire.  • the present hasn´t been opened by claire.  • Has the present been opened by claire?
past simple:   • chinesse invented the paper.  • the paper was invented by chinesse.  • the paper wasn´t invented by chinesse.  • Was the paper invented by chinesse?
past continuous:   • Jack and lily were breaking the door.  • the door was being broken by jack and lily.  • the door wasn´t being broken by jack and lily.  • Was the door being broken by jack and lily?
Past perfect:   • he had stolen a car  • a car had been stolen (by hiM).  • a CAR HADN´T BEEN STOLEN (BY HIM).  • hAD A CAR BEEB STOLEN (BY HIM)?
fOR PASSING ACTIVE TO PASSIVE: The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive SENTENCE AND The subject of the active sentence becomes passive complement agent . There always appears in prayer, and when it appears it is introduced by "by" .
examples:   • lucy cleans her home every day.  • the home is cleaned by lucy every day.  •   • Lucas has finished the report.  • the report has been finised by lucas.
Examples:   • paul forgot the papers.  • the papers were forgotten by paul.  •   • ana was making a cake.  • a cake was being made by ana.
examples:   • they found my dog   • my dog was found.
