The Other Side of Life
There is a side of Christians that dig deeper in God.
That side tries to obey the written laws, the Golden Rules and the basic ‘To-do’s’
Sunday morning rings Good Tidings that says “Let me hurry out of bed!”
“Make the Sunday dinner a little early and possibly bake the bread”
The other side of life
It also says,“Get the children out to church for they only have one day to get some Jesus in their souls”
“Walking the Jesus walk and talking the Jesus talk,are just enough to keep them in control”
Then you have anotherside of life
This side cries out for change,for something new
Anything but this, this routine that keeps repeating every day
The job gets boring; the unfinished book isn’t growing
And as to that cocktail dress,it still remains spotless hanging by itself
This side is screaming louder and louder as if it wants to come out of its skin
Just enough to rip that mask off of its chinny chin chin
It calls for life, for laughter, for peace, for mobility!
On this side of life
It stays up late, looking to do something great
A speech,a song,or a journal during the long lengthen bathroombreaks
But it never really expressed any of it when it comes to Sunday mingles
Thinking “They wouldn’t appreciate it”
That voice, stares around the corner as if it is looking for someone to come to him
Spontaneously checkthe mails, to see if anything happens to drop in
Now back to the other side of life
Other than God, the sanctuary,the Holy Book, the hymns,
And oh, the choir, there is nothing much to say
So let me just pray, and pray, and pray
And have it my own way, on this side of life
What do your side craves for, what are you holding back?
Oh I know you are a Christian and all that
But what does the soul really lacks?
Is it that gift that you buried last year?
Or that voice you chose to never share?
What is it? Tell me! Go ahead!
Because in God’s eyes, He believes in truth, and authenticity
He believes in you His handywork
So go and be yourself and live both sides of life!
