Jennifer Lopez has been married 5 times, with each marriage ending in divorce. Her first husband was waiter Ojani Noa (1997-1998), which resulted in a lengthy legal battle over an alleged sex tape. She dated Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs (1999-2001) during his legal issues. Her marriage to backup dancer Cris Judd (2001-2002) ended when she began dating Ben Affleck (2002-2004), though they called off their engagement. Lopez's third marriage was to singer Marc Anthony (2004-2011), with whom she had twins, but they also divorced amid rumors of his infidelity.
1. The Men Who Loved and Left Jennifer Lopez
Few stars can tout the accomplishments that Jennifer Lopez has achieved in her
rise to fame. Lopez carved out a successful singing career before branching out
into movies and later television. The "American Idol" judge tops the list of People
Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 2011. She also tops the list of celebrities
who have endured one messy breakup after another in their love lives.
1. Ojani Noa
It seemed like the makings of a storybook romance for Noa. He went from a waiter
in Miami to the husband of a pop star in 1997. The marriage between Lopez and
Noa quickly unraveled and they filed for divorce just 11 months later. Countless
lawsuits followed in later years, including a court order that kept an alleged sex
tape between the couple from being publicly released. Lopez also blocked Noa
from publishing a book in 2006 and releasing a film in 2009. Both projects
allegedly contained details about their marriage and Lopez argued it violated a
confidentiality agreement Noa had signed with her. If it were not for legal battles
with Lopez, Noa would have faded back into relative obscurity as just another ex-
husband to a celebrity.
2. Sean Combs
Lopez and the hip-hop mogul began a volatile relationship in 1999. It had nothing
to do with Combs constant name changes -- Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy and so on
-- but centered on his brushes with the law. During their 2 1/2 years together,
Combs was arrested for felony gun possession after his posse exchanged gunfire
with a rival group outside a New York nightclub. A police search found a gun in
the couple's car. Lopez and Combs called it quits a year after the incident. The two
have remained on good terms. They reunited during an episode of "American Idol"
in 2011. Combs has had nothing except praise for Lopez in media interviews since
their relationship ultimately failed.
3. Cris Judd
Judd started out in Lopez's shadow when he performed as a backup dancer in the
music video for her hit single, "Love Don't Cost A Thing" in 2000. Perhaps he
should have taken that as a warning sign of how things would turn out between
them. The couple married a year later in California. Lopez never seemed to be
satisfied with an anonymous dancer who did not match her star power. Their
2. marriage did not even survive a full year after Lopez publicly started up a
relationship with actor Ben Affleck in June, 2002 behind Judd's back. Life has
gone smoothly for Judd since that time. He built a thriving career as a
choreographer and married his second wife Kelly Wolfe in 2009.
4. Ben Affleck
From the moment that Affleck and Lopez hooked up on the set of the mega-bomb
"Gigli," the couple were never far from the prying eyes of the paprazzi and
tabloids. A merged name for the couple -- "Bennifer" -- soon entered into the pop
culture lexicon. Their romance before the cameras started long before the divorce
between Judd and then husband Cris Judd was finalized. Lopez and Judd officially
divorced in 2003. Affleck proposed to Lopez in 2002. At the time of their
engagement, Lopez sported a monster diamond ring whenever she went out in
public. It featured a 6.1 carat pink diamond and reportedly cost Affleck $1.2
million. Eventually, the spotlight shone too bright for the celebrity couple. They
called off their engagement and split in 2004. Both Affleck and Lopez blamed
excessive tabloid coverage of their relationship for their split. Affleck moved on
from Lopez in a hurry and married "Daredevil" co-star Jennifer Garner in 2005.
5. Marc Anthony
The third time was not the charm for Lopez when it came to marriages. Her
coupling with Anthony seemed filled with promise in the beginning. The two
singers dated briefly in the 1990s and remained friends in subsequent years. They
came together a second time in 2004. Lopez and Anthony began dating when they
recorded a duet for her film "Shall We Dance." Things progressed rapidly. A scant
two months following her breakup with Affleck, Lopez was engaged to Anthony.
They married before the end of 2004. The ceremony took place just four days after
Anthony finalized a divorce with his previous wife. It appeared a happy marriage
finally materialized for both singers. Anthony and Lopez had twins in 2008 and
were well on their way to building a family. Their marriage eventually unraveled
when rumors of Anthony's infidelity became public knowledge. The couple finally
divorced one another in 2011.
