3. Origins of the maoríes New Zeland was one of the first places in the Earth to be conquered and colonized. New Zeland was inhabited by maories people before the arrival of Europeans. The maorí people arrived between the years 500 and 1300 a.C. These people had to adapt their economy and create an original culture.
