A major mistake in our thinking is the assumption that forgiveness of sin means that there are no consequences to our lives once we are forgiven. This chapter shows
us that it is folly to think this way. David is forgiven for his adultery with Bathsheba, and he is allowed to live rather than die as the law of God demanded. However, there is a heavy load of judgment that comes upon David for his sin of
adultery and murder. God is the judge and he does not carry out capital punishment, but he still has very harsh penalties to inflict on David. He does not get by with his sin, and God does not treat it lightly. He pays an enormous price for his folly. It is important that we see this lest we think that we can confess our sin and be forgiven, and that ends the matter. It is not so, for we still reap as we sow, and the hope of forgiveness ought not to be an enticement to go ahead and sin. Forgiveness does not wipe away the threat of punishment at all. We want forgiveness to mean
that all is forgotten, but that is not how it works. Forgive and forget can apply to many offenses, but not when it comes to breaking one of God's major commandments.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
1. FORGIVENESS
(the love of God for Mankind)
Forgiveness one theme or let me call it a key term that comes when something wrong has
occurred. Either one has done ill things and has annoyed the neighbour and seeks to be reunited.
Another is the forgiveness looked upon from God where we sin against him each and every
moment and we need to be reunited with God.
The term forgiveness came to be known when Mankind sinned against God in the beginning this
is a story that we all know. How did it occur, you may ask yourself? Let us follow, when Adam
and Eve were created and placed in the garden of Eden, they were given boundaries and this was
“not to eat any fruit from the trees in the middle and that was the tree of life and the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil (Genesis2:9)” Because of the cunning devil who even up to date is
the major cause of suffering and sin, they were tempted and sinned against God. At this moment,
Man became parallel to God. A distance created that was not meant to be there. But because the
Lord is a loving God, this distanced was narrowed though not at the most by him clothing Man
with the skin of a sheep a sign of forgiveness. But remember the distance was still there between
man and God. That is why man continued to sin against since he had lost that glory he had at
first.
Hey, listen the good news is here today. That however much your sins are great, they can still be
forgiven by the Lord. I need you to say Amen!! Because when we read in the book of
2Chronicles 33:12-13, we see the story of Manasseh one of the kings ranked near the top in the
most corrupt kings of Israel. He had worshiped idols, sacrificed his own children and many other
devious acts. But this day was the time God’s grace befalls Manasseh, because sometimes God
uses the hard way for you to realise his great and above all. After very many warning by God
that Manasseh did not want to take hid of. He was arrested by the will of God by the Assyrians.
And here when he saw that the wings he had developed had gone down, he decided to ask God
2. for forgiveness and guess what God forgave him and in the short left time he was able to
complete the wall that was built by King David.
We see clearly how great God’s love is and shows the no limit of his forgiveness to mankind.
Read Psalms 51:1-7 a psalm written by David seeking for forgiveness after committing adultery
with Bathsheba.
So Jesus yielded to being the sacrifice for our sins (1John2:2), let us not take this death for
granted because it saved me and you. And through this wondrous act, we are able to call unto
God because through the relation between mankind and God was retained.
BUT remember that however much God’s forgiveness has no limit, there is no reason for one to
continue in sin since he or she will still be forgiven by God. There is always a grace period set
for us by God and it needs us to benefit from each time given. So if you sinned and were
forgiven, do not blindly yield to temptation or even fall into sin.
May the good Lord continue to guide to a sinless life on earth so we may inherit the Kingdom of
God. AMEN!!!!
