1. Task 2
How does your product represent
particular social groups?
2. Characters
We chose to use Amber as the female lead role, we used her
because she has the right qualities and look that fit her character of a
generic thriller victim. She is also small and doesn't’t enjoy horror/movie
films and therefore found it easier to portray her emotions and
vulnerability.
We chose to use Tom as the male lead role. We chose to use him
because he is the correct generic character for this genre, this is
because he is tall and confident. He comes across as protective which
is important in this type of film.
We decided to use myself as the ‘lodgers aquatence’ a sinister and
mysterious character, who appears to be watching the male and female
lead rolls. I enjoy horror films and therefore found it easier to convey this
type of character.

3. Comparing characters:
Will
We thought it would be most appropriate to base our film opening on
The Strangers.
Will’s character Charlie was based on James Hoyt, played by Scott
Speedman. This fits the character for the film perfectly and portrays the
correct kind of emotions that are needed for the scenario. They both
play the casual, laidback boyfriend of the scared, intimated girlfriend, but
unlike James, Will is allot younger and taller.
Although the two characters are similar in personalities, their
personalities are different, Will and Roxy are young students struggling
to pay their rent and the other couple are arguing about marriage.

5. Comparing characters:
Amber
Amber played the role of Roxy, based on Liz Tyler's character from The
Strangers. They are both vulnerable, intimidated but also strong willed
characters.
Both Amber and Liz are quite similar looks, being young and having
dark hair. The differences between the two characters are that Liz
Tylers character is in a serious relationship which is going through a
tough patch because her boyfriends proposed to her and she refused,
unlike Roxy who is more immature.

7. Comparing characters:
Ellé
Ellé
I played the role of ‘The Lodgers Aquatence‘ who is based on the
masked family in The Strangers. They are there to suggest that they are
going to do something bad to the main characters, they are portrayed as
sinister and intimidating.
Both characters wear masks, which shows no emotion and creates
mystery and suspense throughout. The difference between The
Strangers and The Lodger is that there is only one mysterious character
compared to three.
