Preliminary task script. Chelsea and Lucy.
The Interview.
[Man opens door and walks into building, view from behind as approaching,
then from within building when opening door; panning as walks towards
reception desk.]
[Receptionist looks up]
RECEPTIONIST:
How can I help?
BLAINE:
[Awkwardly, stuttering]
Hi, yes, I’m here, um, for the interview?
RECEPTIONIST:
[Points towards chairs]
Sit there. Someone will be out shortly.
BLAINE:
[Still awkward and unsure]
Oh… Um, okay… Thanks…
[Tracking as he walks across and sits on a chair. Panning shot, reading a
‘Silence’ sign on wall. Shot of Blaine, close up, seems nervous, trying to distract
himself. Someone walks out of a room, calls his name, over shoulder shot of
new character showing Blaine alone in waiting room. Track Blaine into
interview room, swing round to show interview room.]
INTERVIEWER 1:
[Calm, patient]
Please, take a seat.
[Blaine sits on small chair.]
INTERVIEWER 2:
[Smiling]
Preliminary task script. Chelsea and Lucy.
No need to worry, just a few standard questions.
[Blaine smiles back, worriedly]
BLAINE:
Of course…
INTERVIEWER 1:
So, you’ve applied for the PA role, correct?
BLAINE:
[Confused nodding]
Yes.
INTERVIEWER 2:
So… Do you come here often?
BLAINE:
[Now more confused]
Um… No [Quietly] Surprisingly. [Normal volume] First time here.
[Interviewer 2 nodding]
INTERVIEWER 1:
Anyway, do you have any prior experience in this kind of a job?
BLAINE:
No, not really, but I am very eager to learn.
[Interviewer 1 Smiles and makes note on paper]
INTERVIEWER 2:
Are you willing to take part in Charity events… Such as Naked Thursdays?
BLAINE:
[Shocked, confused]
Not particularly, but, I mean, does that happen often?
INTERVIEWERS 1 AND 2:
Preliminary task script. Chelsea and Lucy.
[No expression, plain voice/deadpan]
Thursdays…
BLAINE:
[Slowly gets up from chair and walks backwards towards door]
On second thoughts I think I’ll apply elsewhere..
[Blaine leaves, shot through glass panel in door, both interviewers shrug, then
fade out.]
