An egg hatches and a hungry caterpillar emerges. The caterpillar eats through various fruits and other foods, making its tummy hurt. It then eats a leaf which makes its tummy feel better. The caterpillar forms a chrysalis and emerges as a butterfly, completing its life cycle from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis and finally butterfly.

2. Once upon a time, there was an egg on a leaf that was going to crack open.

3. A caterpillar came out and was hungry. He began to look for some food.

4. First, he found a red apple. He decided to eat all the way through it.

5. Then he ate through two pears.

6. He ate all the way through three plums.

7. Next, he ate through four strawberries.

8. Then he ate through five whole oranges.

9. Then the caterpillar ate through a pickle, a piece of Swiss cheese, an ice cream cone, a lollipop, a slice of watermelon, and a cupcake. His tummy really hurt.

10. He thought eating a big leaf would make his tummy feel better and it did.

11. He’s now a big fat caterpillar.

12. He made a chrysalis and lived in it for a very long time.
