 An avid skier, motorcyclist, sailor, and fly-fisherman, Peter
Bergstein lives in Texas and often travels to enjoy outdoor
activities. One of Peter Bergstein’s favorite destinations is
Colorado Springs, where he indulges in his love of fly-fishing in the
many streams and rivers there. When he visits Colorado Springs,
he frequently stays at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort.

 Situated atop a mesa in northeast Colorado Springs, the Garden
of the Gods offers visitors and guests a spectacular view of Pike’s
Peak and the Rocky Mountains. The resort was opened in 1951.
Designed as a tennis club, it consisted of 26 guest rooms and five
suites, two tennis courts, a pool, a small party room, and a bar
and dining room. Members encouraged the club’s owner, Al Hill,
to add a golf course, and in 1961, a 7,000-yard, 18-hole course
designed by J. Press Maxwell opened for play.

 The Garden of the Gods today offers 69 guest rooms and suites,
as well as a broad range of recreational and social activities. The
tennis program features 11 outdoor courts and two indoor courts,
a fully-stocked tennis shop, and a USTA-certified tennis pro on-
site. The Club’s Kissing Camels golf course is a championship-
quality, 27-hole course that spans more than 7,000 yards per 18-
hole segment; members and their guests can also receive
guidance from PGA pros or practice on the course’s driving
range.
