The document provides information about various science workshops and activities organized by The Futurist. The mission is to inspire young minds to pursue science through hands-on experiments. Various workshops will be conducted over the summer, including those led by celebrity science educator F.A.Q. Prateek. The workshops aim to benefit students by making science fun and interactive through activities related to topics like magnetism, sound, astronomy and more. A total of 30,000 students across 30 schools are expected to participate in the workshops.

2. No Million scientist
for Billion humanity
in a century
Our Mission
Our aim is to create an awareness
about science and excite young
minds to take up research.
To provide a platform for children
to exchange ideas and experiences
and in the process kindle a desire to
pursue science in their future.
Inspired by Mr. Arvind Gupta
Arvind Gupta has been to over 3,500 schools in 40+ years, and influenced the
lives of millions of children across the world through his experiments. His
website http://arvindguptatoys.com, has over 4000 videos in 18 languages,
3. The Futurist is a simple thought intending to stimulate young minds to
go for innovation and creation which can lead humanity to the path of
achievement. A young mind has enormous potential to create almost
anything. Keeping in mind the capability of our younger generation,
The Futurist intends to encourage them to go for innovations and to
create their own models for future.
The Futurist will create a solid platform for young children to transform
their basic study into innovations and discoveries by practising hands
on experiments, trash to toy and dump to pump experiment methods.
We aim to help them see that science is a keyhole to the future which
will help them make a difference in their lives and at the same time
make a worthwhile contribution to their society and country too.
The Futurist is a hunt for young scientists who can change the world
with their ideas and prove the fact that age and education are not
barriers for any creation or innovation.
The Futurist intends to achieve its goal through simple science
experiments, workshops, fine arts & origami workshop throughout the
year.

4. Over the years the concept of playing and
recreation have changed drastically.
Children today prefer to spend their free
time watching TV and playing video
games.
Outdoor activities and playing with others
of their age are no longer a priority for
them.
This limits their mental and physical growth
to a great extent.
Is there something that
can be done to change
this trend ?
5. The
History
The 19th century is called the golden
era, the time when many inventions
came to light like automobiles, radio
etc.. ideas that provided solution to
our needs.
These inventions where further en-
hanced in the 20th century and turned
dreams to reality.
21st century brought the world closer
than ever, now everything is possible.
Inventions & discoveries are part of our
lives.
Demands create Necessity
Necessity leads to solutions.
6. Albert Einstein
What is the first word that comes to mind
when you think of Albert Einstein?
Genius !
In fact Einstein was unable to speak
fluently until he was 12 yrs old.
At school he smelled of dill pickles and
peanut butter and his clothes were always
disheveled.
Everything should be made as
simple as possible, but not simpler.
Thomas Edison
What do you think about his educational
background?
He had very little formal education as a
child.
Attending school only for months, he
was taught reading, writing and
arithmetic by his mother.
Unfortunately, there seems to be
far more opportunity out there than
ability. We should remember that
good fortune often happens when
opportunity meets with preparation.

7. Louis Braille
At age 16, Braille
invented an alphabet
for the blind.
At 18, he started
experimenting with
sound and went on to
invent the telephone.
Alexander Graham Bell
When she was 13, Ada
Lovelace became fascinated
with math and went on to
write the first computer

No barriers for innovation Curosity

DO - IT
YOURSELF
Discoveries indicate that any person who has
the courage to think beyond the limits has the
potential to be a scientist.
There can be no barriers for an intuitive mind,
one with innovative ideas and the ability to
turn them into inventions.
Throughout history many great scientists de-
veloped their curiosity for science at an early
age and went on to make groundbreaking
discoveries that changed our way of living.
8. What are Simple Science
Experiments ?
Simple science is the study of scientific concepts
through practical experiments using handy compo-
nents; explaining physics, chemistry, biology, math-
ematics, astronomy, and so on.......
9. How Simple Science
Will Benefit Young Children ?
The Futurist strives to inculcate strong values and an envi-
ronment friendly attitude in its teachings, enabling chil-
dren to be responsible citizens and better human beings.
By practicing the simple science experiments the child
will learn to integrate every skill that has been taught to
him.
The ability to think ‘why’ and ‘how’ gets automatically
embedded in a child when he works on live projects. This
develops a sense of confidence in them to think for them-
selves and face any situations.
Research by UNESCO & Stanford have
shown that children’s understanding of the
content increases by 60 % when exposed
to a hands-on learning approach.
Practical knowledge of science has paved
the way for many kids to become future
scientists and inventors.
10. Nuclear Fusion Reactor
Michigan high school student Thiago Olsen
built a nuclear fusion reactor in his garage
when he was only 15 years old. How did he
do it? He studied physics textbooks, used
vacuum pump manuals, and surfed the Web
for the best deals on parts. While his device
is not self-sustaining and produces fusion
only on a small scale, it's a pretty impressive
feat for any teenager.
Thiago Olsen Shree Bose
Problems With Ovarian Cancer Treatment
Taking top prize at the Google Science Fair,
Bose will get to spend several weeks studying
marine life in the Galapagos Islands. The work
that netted her this prize is awe-inspiring,
especially coming from a teenager. Bose
uncovered a number of problems with popular
ovarian cancer treatments and drugs,
producing a report that would be more at
home in a medical journal than a high school
classroom. Hopefully, this will influence some
changes in how treatment is doled out to
suffering patients.

11. Chemical-Sniffing LEGO Robot
Many a science fair projects involve
LEGOs, but few on the level that Anna
Simpson's did. Her robot, built of the
plastic blocks,is capable of sniffing out
toxic chemicals and other hazards while
keeping humans at a safe distance.
Simpson's work won her the California
State Science Fair and could have a
number of industrial and public safety
applications if adapted.
Anna Simpson Daniel Burd
Plastic-Eating Microbe-Daniel Burd
Plastic that is simply dumped into landfills
can take centuries to decompose, if it
ever really does, but this young thinker
came up with a better way. Burd beat out
leading scientists to discovering a
microbe that eats plastic, increasing the
rate of decomposition by more than 40
percent. This project won him the
Canada-Wide Science Fair and garnered
a fair amount of international media
attention as well.

12. Anand Srinivasan
Mind-controlled Prosthetic Limbs
It's hard to believe that this
awe-inspiring science project came
from the mind of a 14-year-old.
Hooking his brain up to an EEG
scanner, Srinivasan worked to test
out a new method of improving
mind-controlled prosthetic limbs. He
found that data from the EEG could
help with data classification and
signal processing when using them,
providing a better and more efficient
user experience.

Fair: 2013.
