THE FOUR DAY PRAYER CYCLE 	
  
The four day cycle is a time to focus on personal development and prayers for
personal guidance and elevation. The divination done on the four day cycle
should include adimu offerings directly to the Ifá pot. 	
  
Prior to divination sprinkle drops of gin directly on the ikin. After the divination
place corn meal mixed with water and honey that is quick fired into a flat biscuit
on top of the ikin. 	
  
The four day cycle can include prayers to all the ase (Spiritual powers) in your
shrine. If the Odu for the four day cycle is favorable mark it on the tray. Using the
middle finger on both hands push the iyerosun (divination powder) towards the
center of the tray, then using your thumbs press the iyerosun from the bottom
up. Then take your middle fingers and push the iyerosun from the sides to the
middle. Press the small mound of iyerosun in the middle of the tray with your
right middle finger and say ire to. Sprinkle a small amount of the iyerosun on the
ikin saying “ire, ire, ire to”. The word ire means “good fortune”, the word to
(pronounced “tow”) means “finished”, indicating your prayer is over. 	
  
When doing the oriki for Ela roll the ikin in your hands as a way of connecting
with the as of Ela. When the oriki is completed pray for your own good fortune
while continuing to roll the ikin in your hands. If you start to speak very quickly
and the words do not seem to be your own you are making a connection to Spirit.
