This document outlines the evolution of wireless communication standards from 1G to 5G over time. 1G began in the 1980s with analog cellular networks, 2G started in the 1990s and brought digital networks like GSM, 3G launched in the 2000s and enabled broadband connectivity through technologies such as WCDMA, and 4G started in the 2010s with LTE providing faster speeds. 5G is the newest generation beginning in 2020 with new capabilities like network slicing, distributed cloud and machine intelligence.
