6. II. THE 8 CHARACTERISTICS OF STRONG INNOVATION
PROGRAM
A. There are Always More Ideas in the Pipeline
B. The Innovation Team (and Upper Management) Can 'Think
Outside the Box'
C.The Company Budgets Enough for Product Development
D.The Company Has to be Financially Sound
E. The Company Has to be Willing to Accept a Certain Amount of
Risk
F. The Company Needs a Mindset of Recognizing and Jumping on
Opportunities
G.The Innovation Team Needs to Possess a Strong Propensity for

7. 1.There are Always More Ideas in
the Pipeline - True innovators
always have new ideas in the
works, and are continually
brainstorming to come up with new
things to try. Each time a project
fails, the team takes the lessons it
learned and applies those lessons
to future ideas.

9. 2. The Innovation Team (and
Upper Management) Can 'Think
Outside the Box' - They put aside
all preconceived notions about what

11. 3. The Company Budgets
Enough for Product
Development - Teams burn
through a lot of ideas that
generate no revenue, but
cost a boatload to research
and attempt to develop.
There has to be enough
cash set aside to use until a
new innovation takes off
and covers those
development costs.

13. IV. INSIGHTS
Innovation increases your chances to react to changes and
discover new opportunities. It can also help foster competitive
advantage as it allows you to build better products and services for
your customers.
Innovation inherently involves uncertainty, creativity and a special
mindset that not all people have or are willing to embrace. People
who adapt positively to adversity are more prone to innovative
behaviors.
