Competition, Contribution, Cooperation and the Common Good 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Study notes at http://is.gd/6gUQ6
Sibling rivalry results in competition that goes nowhere
Churches can also get caught up in useless competitions that go nowhere
We need to focus on the common good
The common good is achieved when we cooperate together in service
The common good is the reason we are given spiritual gifts More on the reason for spiritual gifts at http://is.gd/6gUQ6
We receive spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit as the Spirit decides
Competition works against the common good
Competition is anything that creates controversy and doesn't submit to Jesus
Competition occurs when we compare ourselves to others
Contribution is the purpose of spiritual gifts
The Spirit gives us spiritual gifts so we can serve each other
The church is built up as each of us contributes in the way the Spirit desires
Cooperation is the goal of spiritual gifts
We cooperate with each other when we serve Jesus with the gifts he gave us
Cooperation builds the body and keeps proper focus on Jesus
Stop comparing yourself to others and competing with them
Find a way to contribute
