Also some>mes called Silents or Tradi,onalists • Prefer predictable order of service, time- honored traditions and the King James Bible. • Prefer traditional music and hymns from the hymnbook. • Dislike loud “blasting” music • Believe what you wear is a matter of worship and you should wear your “Sunday Best.” • Equate quality with doing “your best.” • Value tradition and loyalty. © Church Leadership Coaching

Born 1946-1964. • Smooth “seamless” worship service. • Amplified, upbeat, celebration music with a beat and words on a screen. • Equate quality with being error-free. • “Life application” preaching. • Cling to youth and don’t want to grow old. • Rejected the wisdom and experience of their elders & insisted on doing church their own way. • “Believe you have to experience it for yourself or it doesn’t matter.” © Church Leadership Coaching

Also some>mes called Baby Busters or Survivors • They find carefully planned, “seamless.” worship services artificial, inauthentic, and too “slick.” • Like loud music and/or acoustic music. • Their most important values are: – Authenticity – Relationship. • They grew up as “survivalists” who often had to fend for themselves. Therefore they tend to be skeptics. • They do not feel loyalty or obligation to work or institutions (including church). • They don’t build their lives around work. Usually referred to as Millennials • Often raised by “helicopter” parents. • High in self esteem • Like hi-tech, up-to-date, environments. • Oriented toward personal community service. • Want “hands on” involvement. Do not want to be a mere spectator. • Want to be part of a “movement” rather than an organization. • Want to change the world “one person at a time.” • They value transparency, authenticity and relationship. © Church Leadership Coaching
