The Black Keys is an American garage rock duo formed in 2001 in Akron, Ohio. Starting as an independent act recording in basements, they self-produced their early records before emerging as one of the most popular garage rock artists during a revival of the genre in the 2010s. While in high school, one member was a soccer captain and the other a social outcast.
