Artists and scientists do not simply express what is already inside them, but create something new through a dialogue with their medium or nature. For both, their initial ideas are only similar to what they observe, not identical, and it is from considering the similarities and differences that new ideas emerge. This continual process leads to the constant creation of new insights that both the artist/scientist and their subject matter hold in common.
