With more than two decades of experience as a practicing pathologist
and professor of pathology, Dr. Susan Silver serves as a consulting
pathologist for the Metropolitan Fine Needle Aspiration Clinic. She also
maintains a second-opinion pathology consultancy in Pittsburgh. Before
beginning her career as a pathologist, Dr. Susan Silver earned her doctor
of medicine from Case Western Reserve University, where she earned
election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Honor Society
Founded in 1902, Alpha Omega Alpha is a professional medical
organization with 123 chapters across the United States. The society strives
to promote excellence in both academia and professional practice,
upholding values such as honesty, leadership, and dedication to serving
those in need. Each year, the society elects approximately 3,000 new
members. Medical students who rank within the top 25 percent of their
class are eligible for election, while postgraduates become electable after
demonstrating academic and professional achievement.

that are open to all students and faculty at schools with active society
chapters. Awards such as the Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research

Administrative Recognition, and Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher
awards promote the organization’s values and ideals.
