CITIZENSHIP CLASS
                 VO L U N T E E R S

We offer a class here that is specifically designed to prepare and
motivate people who will be taking the citizenship exam/interview.
Citizenship Volunteers work individually with citizenship students,
practice the interview process, review vocabulary and U.S history and
prepare them to speak about themselves and their history. We also
provide special assistance to students who speak very little to no
English.
G.E.D VOLUNTEERS

 We have a 5 day a week G.E.D program in Spanish that is almost
always at capacity. We are looking for volunteers to assist in classes,
and also tutor individually or in small groups, especially in the area of
math. So if you are bilingual and mathematically inclined, this is for
you.

 We recently Launched a new G.E.D program in English that will
soon be needing tutors and classroom helpers.
COMPUTER VOLUNTEERS

Centro Romero has its own functioning computer lab in which several
classes are taught each week. Most are taught in Spanish, some in
both languages and some in English. The topic of computer literacy
is very individual and requires a lot of volunteer assistance to lead a
                     classroom full of beginners.

These volunteers work in the lab during class and assist students with
small tasks such as creating email accounts and typing.
S PA N I S H L A N G UA G E L I T E R A C Y

Spanish Language Literacy, or ALFABETACION as we call it here,
is a program dedicated to teaching formal written Spanish. Due to the
nature of this class, volunteers must be native speakers and have a
strong understanding of Spanish grammar.

This program is not funded at all, therefore it is totally volunteer run
program so we are always looking for lead teachers, as well as
assistants and tutors.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

 Each program within the department has its own training process.
 All volunteers start with an orientation.
 Some volunteers can receive training on-site, while others (like
individual tutors) are sent to another location to receive specific
   training in their area.
 THE BOTTOM LINE: Anyone can become a volunteer, we
   will train you!!
