Cultivating Inner Peace with the Eight Elements of Yoga.docx.pdfYoga Rishi
Patanjali, a renowned philosopher, outlined the eight limbs of yoga in his writings as a comprehensive path towards enlightenment and intellectual growth. Often referred to as Ashtanga Yoga, these elements offer a structured approach to living a healthy and purposeful life. Instead of following a linear progression, these interconnected practices create a foundation for a more peaceful and balanced existence. Each element builds upon the previous one, collectively leading to self-realization. In essence, they constitute an eight-fold path to liberation.
To raise up the physical to the spiritual is Brahmacharya, for by the meeting of the two the energy which starts from one and produces the other is enhanced and fulfills itself. This is the metaphysical theory. The application depends on a right understanding of the physical and psychological conformation of the human receptacle of energy.

The Difference between Cetasika in Abhidhamma Pitaka and Abhidhammattha Sangahabijsshrjournal
Purpose: The objective of this article is to study the difference of cetasika in Abhidhamma Pit.aka and Abhidhammattha Sangaha.
Methodology: There are 45 volumes of the Pali-Tipit.aka of Siam Kingdom. 12 volumes, volume 34–45, belong to Abhidhamma Pit.aka. Volume 34 gives explanations about mind, mental factors, form and Nibbana. There are 56 mental factors, 20 neutral, wholesome and unwholesome mixed consciousness, and 36 completely wholesome
consciousness (20 + 36), and 12 completely unwholesome consciousness (12 + 20). All these are collectively referred to as “Dhamma 56 or Cetasika 56” . But, In Abhidhammattha Sangaha, cetasika is divided into 52; 13 neutral consciousness, 14 unwholesome consciousness, and 25 wholesome consciousness. Main Results: The result indicated that in Abhidhammattha Sangaha, the similar Dhamma items are reduced, such as satindriya and satibala are reduced to sati, saddhindriya and saddhabala are reduced to saddh ¯ a. It is assumed ¯ that the author may be done to facilitate the study for the general public. Implications: The addition of other topics in Abhidhammattha Sangaha(Not in Abhidhamma Pit.aka) such as
uddhacca, manasikara etc., should be further studied.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Eight Paths Factors (Attha Maggangani)
A clarification, by way of state, and by way of occurrence
Conclusion
3. Introduction
Bodhipakkhiya Dhamma means literally “states on the side of
enlightenment.” It rarely appear in the Suttas, in the literature it
comes to be use as a general term for the Thirty-seven factors into
which the Buddha compressed the practice of his teaching.
Those factor are called “Requisites of enlightenment”, because they
conduce to the attainment of enlightenment, which is the
knowledge of the four supramundane paths.
Those 37 factors will be explained group by group as following
slides.
4. Four Foundation of Mindfulness
They form a complete system of meditative practice for the development of
mindfulness and insight. The method is expounded at length in two Sutta.
Those four Foundation of Mindfulness have a single essence, which consists of
mindfulness on phenomena.
This mindful contemplation is to be applied to four objects: the body, feelings,
states of consciousness, and mental objects.
Latter comprise more factors:
Five Hindrance
Five Aggregates
Six sense bases
Seven Enlightenment factors
Four Noble Truth
The practice of the four foundations of mindfulness is identical with right
mindfulness as the seventh factor of the Noble Eightfold Path.
5. Four Supreme Efforts (Sammappadhana)
This fourfold effort, they one mental factor energy which perform four
separate functions, is identical with right effort.
1. The effort to discard evil states that have arisen,
2. The effort to prevent the arising of unarisen evil state,
3. The effort to develop unarisen wholesome states,
4. The effort to augment arisen wholesome state.
6. Four Means to Accomplishment (iddhipada)
The word “iddhi” signifies all sublime and supramundane states to be
accomplished by applying effort to the practice of the Buddha’s Teaching.
The principal methods of achieving are called “ the means of
accomplishment.
While those states become predominant (adhipati) on any occasion when
they are instrumental in accomplishing a goal, they become “iddhipada”
only when they are applied to achieving the goal of the Buddha’s teaching.
Four of them are as following:
1. Desire (Chandidhipado)
2. Energy (Viriyidhipado)
3. Consciousness (Cittiddhipado)
4. Investigation (Vimamsiddhipado)
7. Five Faculties & Five Powers
Five Faculties
1. faith - Saddhidriya
2. Energy - Viriyindriya
3. Mindfulness - Satindriya
4. Concentration- Samadhindriya
5. Wisdom - Pannindriya
Five Powers
1. faith - Saddhabala
2. Energy - Viriyabala
3. Mindfulness - Satibala
4. Concentration- Samadhibala
5. Wisdom - Pannabala
The faculties and powers comprise the same five factors.
The faculties are factors which exercise control in their respective domains
The powers are these same factors considered as being unshakable by their opposites.
8. Seven Factors of Enlightenment (Satta Bojjhanga)
1. Mindfulness - satisambojjhanga
2. Investigation of state - dhammavicarayasambojjhanga
3. Energy - viriyasambojjhanga
4. Zest or happiness -pitisambojjhanga
5. Tranquility - passaddhisambojjhanga
6. Concentration - samadhisambojjhanga
7. Equanimity - upekkhasambojjhanga
Among the seven factors, investigation of state is a designation for wisdom, insight
into mental and material phenomena as they really are.
Tranquilly means tranquility both consciousness and of the mental body.
Equanimity means mental neutrality of the universal beautiful cetaiskas, not neutral
feeling.
3 factors of investigation, energy, and zest are opposed to mental sluggishness; the 3
factors of tranquility, concentration, and equanimity counteract mental excitation.
Mindfulness assures that the two groups occur in balance, neither exceeding the other.
9. Eight Paths Factors (Attha Maggangani)
1. Right view -sammahitthi
2. Right intention –sammasankappa
3. Right speech -sammavaca
4. Right action -sammakammanta
5. Right livelihood - sammaajiva
6. Right effort - sammavayama
7. Right mindfulness –samma sati
8. Right concentration – samma samadhi
Right view is the cetasika of wisdom exercised in understanding the four Noble Truths.
Right intention is the cetasika of initial application (vitakka) directed towards renunciation,
good will, and harmlessness.
Path factors 3, 4, & 5 are identical with the three abstinences.
Right effort is the same as the four supreme effort.
Right mindfulness is the same as the four foundations of mindfulness
Right concentration is defined in terms of the four Jhanas of the Suttanta system.
10. A Clarification
Here, by four foundations of mindfulness, right mindfulness alone is implied. Similarly,
by the four supreme efforts, right effort is implied.
By the way of states
The sevenfold compendium of the thirty-seven factors is composed of these fourteen
states considered by way of their intrinsic nature: desire, consciousness, equanimity,
faith, tranquility, zest, right view, right intention, right effort, the three abstinences, right
mindfulness, and concentration.
By the way of Occurrence
The analysis of there 37 excellent factors is as follows: nine-intention, tranquility, zest, equanimity,
desire, consciousness, and 3 abstains.
Each occur only once; energy occurs (9) times; mindfulness (8) times; concentration (4) times;
wisdom (5) times and faith (2) times.
All these occur in the supramundane, except at times intention and zest. In the mundane, too,
they occur in the course of the six fold purification, according to circumstances
11. Conclusion
Compendium of Requisites of Enlightenment (Bodhipakkhiyasangaha),
they conduce to the attainment of enlightenment, which is the
knowledge of the four supramundane paths.
