The 3 P's - Purak, Pakpakan, and Palata - are fish who live around Verde Island. They enjoy visiting the reefs around the island. However, during one visit to the shore they notice it is littered with plastic bottles and trash. The fish realize the garbage must be coming from humans. They decide to have a meeting with the other fish to discuss how to encourage humans to keep the ocean clean. The fish stop providing resources like white sand and abundant catches to the humans. Eventually, the humans notice the ocean's blessings have decreased and start implementing measures like garbage cans and limiting tourism to protect the environment. Pleased with these changes, the 3 P's and other fish resume their usual

The 3 P's Story: How Three Fish Friends Protected Their Island Home
1. The 3 P’s
In the Fish Kingdom around Verde Island lives the 3P’s, Purak, Pakpakan and Palata. They
inhabit the place since they were young and their favorite past time is to swim around the island
visiting different diving spots like Nalayag Reef, Pulong Bato and Tinalunan.
Among the three, Purak or the parrot fish is the shyest. He is nocturnal that he always
hides to sleep during daytime. Pakpakan is very fond of eating. He wants to eat every food that
he sees, thus, most catches of the fishermen are from his family. Palata, on the other hand, is the
friendliest. He always wants to swim with the tourists and divers visiting the place. It is also his
hobby to go near the shores and watch how people spend their days.
One Friday afternoon before they went home, the 3 P’s decided to meet the other day and
spend the whole day visiting different reefs surrounding the island. Pakpakan advised Purak to
sleep early as they must wake up and meet before dawn. The three are so excited as they have
spent the entire week doing schoolwork given by their teacher Octopus.
The next day, the 3 P’s decided to visit first the shore. They are excited to see the newly
opened resort. However, as they go near the shore, they noticed a big difference.
“Why are there plastics bottles and sachet in the sand? It wasn’t like this last time we visited, right
Pakpakan?” asked the frustrated Purak.
“It was clean before! Why is it like this? Are these from those humans?” Pakpakan replied.
“I think so too. I saw some tourists dumping their garbage in the beach when I was
swimming to get here.” Palata added.
“They are becoming more threatening to us. Last time, I had a very bad stomach when I
ate a seaweed. I think it has chemicals in it, like cyanide.” said Pakpakan.
“Look! The white sand is full of garbages!” exclaimedPalata while pointing to a dump of
trash in the beach. “Isn’t your family the one who makes this white sand, Purak?”
“I know right! This is very disappointing to see. I thought humans will keep the
environment clean since they are enjoying what we are giving them!” Purak replied.
“We provide them food; the ocean supplies their daily needs. They swim and play in the
sea. Aren’t they grateful for these?” Pakpakan disappointingly said.
“I think we need to consult the rest of the fishes and think of a solution, right guys?” asked
Purak.
“You’re right.” Pakpakana and Palata both replied.
The 3 P’s hurriedlyswam to the sea bedand had a meetingwith the rest of the fishes. They
thought that if they stop from giving humans all the benefits that they get from the ocean, maybe
they start to protect and clean the ocean.
2. Purak and his family have stopped dumping white sand in the beaches. Pakpakan and his
companions hid under the sea to lessen the catch of fishermen. Palata and his friends swam away
from the shore that made the tourists disappointed.
Several months later, the tourists and citizens of Verde Island have felt this change and
they started tosuspect what is the problem.Theythought that the oceanhas stoppedgivingthem
blessings because they were too abusive, and they do not care for the environment.
With that, humans started to think of ways to bring back the blessings of the ocean. They
put garbage cans near the shore. They stopped using and dumping cyanide in the ocean. They
limit the tourists that enters the island to protect the tourist spots.
The 3 P’s have noticed these changes in the human’s behavior, and they started feeling
good about that. Several days later, they started going back to what they used to be and give
back the blessings from the ocean that humans need. From then on, humans have started to care
for the ocean and the 3 P’s became happy with the humans.
