This document provides instructions for making a thaumatrope, which is an early optical toy. It lists the materials needed as a sheet of paper, glue, scissors, compass, thin stick, and pen or color pens. The instructions then outline the four steps: cut out two circles from paper and draw a picture split between the two; place a stick through the circles and glue them together with the picture halves aligned; color the drawing for visual appeal; and spin the stick between the hands to see the picture combine into a single image.

1. The thaumatrope tutorial
•What do you need ?
 1 sheet of paper
 A glue
 A pair of scissors
 A compass
 A thin stick
 A pen/color pens

2. First step
Take your paper and cut 2 same
circles.

3. Second step
Draw something simple on a sheet of paper
and draw it again in each circle, but broken
down it into 2 parts.

4. Third step
Take your stick and place it between your
circles. Then stick both disks and don’t forget
to put the stick through them.

5. Fourth step
You can color your drawing to make it more
beautiful and then place the stick between
your hands, rub them and watch what’s
happening…
