Workshop on Product testing and Hazard effect measurements: November 2014
Biological effect measurements are required by law for a number of applications and their
use as complementary instruments in environmental risk assessment is becoming more
prominent. During this workshop the use of biological tests in sustainable product and
process development and in daily care for the environment was clearly illustrated with
practical examples during this workshop. Thanks to the discussion we and all the
participant can now further fine-tune on the most appropriate and relevant in vitro
toxicology and ecotoxicology tests. Thank you for your presence and see you next time!

Invitation: Workshop on Product testing
28/11/2014
and Hazard effect measurements
On 18th November 2014, organized by VITO, Mol, Belgium.
This event was a great opportunity to join industry colleagues and world-renown speakers.
In the morning session the European legislation and the use of biotests for registration dossiers (REACH, CLP, biocides) were
explained, with attention for animal-replacing toxicology tests.
In the afternoon session the use of biological tests to characterize the hazardous properties of waste water, waste materials
and mixtures was illustrated. It is also illustrated how biological measurements can help to select the most environmental
friendly alternative during product development, how specific biotests can help to detect carcinogenic compounds and how
test batteries of biotests can be used as a watchdog for activities that can pose a risk of exposure to chemicals.
During lunch we welcomed you to visit the in vitro and ecotoxicity test facilities where tests were demonstrated with high
concern for quality assurance (GLP, ISO).
Thank you for your presence and see you next year!
Best regards,
An
