AAOE Members Highlight Value of Orthopaedic Practice Management Insights
1. 1
As a health system orthopaedic leader the AAOE has given me
great insights into how to fully support our partner orthopaedic
surgeons as well as those employed. The variety of practice types
and knowledge base is enormously helpful in understanding the
breadth of practice patterns and challenges. It is professionally
fulfilling to be able to support colleagues with information from
time to time as well. Most importantly the ability to rapidly address
and understand the political and economic changes we face today
is invaluable.

Orthopaedic practice manager membership in AAOE is the
equivalent of physician membership in AAOS and specialty
societies combined. It is an absolute requirement for any
orthopaedic practice manager whether they work for a group 1 or
100 in any clinical, academic or institutional setting. Without the
vision, persistence and dedication of many forward thinking
BONES leaders over twenty years ago working collaboratively with
a shared vision and commitment to excellence in orthopaedic
practice management, AAOE would not be the organization it is
today. BONES membership wisely chose the AAOS for specialty
society management services in the early 1990’s and has never
needed to look back. Linda Raterman

I have learned so much by participating in the List Serve.
Members post questions and comments, share document
templates, and their collective wisdom from years of experience
as practice managers…not to mention sharing smiles and outright
laughs when I really need them! AAOE is a valuable asset to me!

The wealth of knowledge that is shared by the members of AAOE
is insurmountable! There is not another source available
that has the day-to-day experiences like the AAOE members.

I have been able to attend a couple of Annual Conferences which
have provided opportunity for networking and participating in
expert orthopaedic-specific educational offerings. But, for me,
the best benefit of being an AAOE member is the List Serve,
where on a daily basis I have exposure to problems and solutions
from some of the best minds in the business. It’s a great give-
and-take, but I always feel I get more than I give.

The AAOE has provided me with invaluable access to so many wonderful colleagues
filled with a great knowledge base who are willing to share what they know! As a
seasoned Practice Administrator, new to Orthopedics, my experience has been so
rewarding. I have learned so much and made many new friends. I just finished a
Board Meeting with my Physician’s and commented on the incredible value of this
organization from both a cost and knowledge perspective.
The list serve contains daily topics that parallel and coincide with strategic planning
and issues faced.
The seminar in Anaheim was well worth it and next year’s is on my calendar.
This has been an experience that is “hats off” compared to other specialties
organizations I have been involved with.

As a newcomer to the industry, it is so valuable to ask those who
have “been there before” their opinions/thoughts on a variety of
topics. In addition, it has been very valuable to me when our
doctors ask – “I wonder what other ortho practices are doing
about….”. Lastly, the Advocacy updates allow me to keep our
doctors abreast of what is happening in the industry, without
having to do a great deal of research on my own – saves me a
great deal of time.
