P.K.SABAT , TGT(W.E)
Objective:
To make a test lamp which can be used to
test and for finding fault in electrical
appliances.
Materials required:
1. 25 W/40 W lamp-01
2. Lamp holder-01
3. A pair of plastic covered
electric wire-1.5 m
4. Two pin wall plug-01
Tools required:
1. Screw driver
2. Wire cutter
How to make
1. Remove the insulation for a short distance at
the two end of the wire.
2.
At one end connect the two pin wall plug .
.
3. Keep the other end free.
4. In one wire cut it from the center and remove
the insulation for a short distance and connect
the lamp holder .
5. Fix the lamp on the lamp holder
1. Connect the plug in the socket and put the
switch ‘ON’
How to use:
The lamp will light up when the two wire A and B are
brought together.
When the two terminals of an appliance are touched simultaneously
with the testing wire A and B , the lamp will light up if the circuit is
complete.
If the lamp does not light up , the circuit is open.
When the metal frame of the appliance and one of its terminals are connected in
the circuit and the lamp light up , it means that the appliance has become short
circuited. It is earth fault .
If the lamp does not light up then there is no earth fault. The appliance can be
used safely.
