3. HISTORY OF TEST CRICKET
The first officially recognized Test match took place between 15 and 19 March 1877
and was played between England and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground
(MCG), where Australia won by 45 runs.
It is said that England started cricket.
Having originated in south-east England, it became the country's national sport in
the 18th century and has developed globally in the 19th and 20th centuries.
International matches have been played since 1844 and Test cricket began,
retrospectively recognized, in 1877.
4. WHY IS IT CALLED TEST CRICKET?
Test Cricket Matches are called test matches because it test’s the
• Playing ability of players under different circumstances and conditions
• Endurance of One’s Temperament
• Testing one’s skill set wither in batting or in fielding
• Testing the perseverance of two playing teams for around straight 360 overs
• It is the most grueling game that is played across all games in the world. No games
are played more than a day. it obviously tests all the skill sets that are required for a
team.
5. HOW MANY OVERS ARE IN A TEST CRICKET
INNINGS?
Every innings of test will have as much overs as the team wants to play. The
maximum over limit for a test game is 450 overs which would last for 5 days with 90
overs per day.
Both teams has total of two innings in a single test match.
6. WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF TEST CRICKET?
The two teams of 11 players play a four-innings match, which may last up to five
days (or longer in some historical cases). A standard day of test cricket consists of 3
sessions of 2 hours each, the breaks between sessions being 40 minutes for lunch,
and 20 minutes for tea.
