It is a sci-fi and action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg assassin sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor, whose son will one day lead the resistance against machines. Stan Winston created animatronic puppets and stop motion effects were used to film scenes of the skeletal terminator.
