This document presents a series of quotes from 1703 to 1985 that show how educators have consistently complained about students' dependence on new technologies for writing and calculating. Over the centuries, concerns were raised about slates, paper, ink pens, fountain pens, ballpoint pens, handheld calculators, and now computers. However, each new technology became widely adopted. The concluding statement argues this pattern will likely continue, as someone will always complain about changes in education technology.
