passport and fled South
Africa to avoid mandatory
military service.

opportunities in the United

3. Created ”Blastar” at the age of 12 and
sold to a computer magazine company
for $500
First Major Accomplishments
Gave his mother Maye Musk stock advise
at the age of 14. Maye claims she
invested $1,000 into the company and
the investment quickly grew to $3,000

4. COLLEGE LIFE
• Attended Queens University in Kingston,
Ontario before transferring to the University
of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he
received a Bachelors Degree in Physics and
Economics
• Enrolled in grad school at Stanford where
he left after just 2 days because he felt the
internet had much more potential to change
society than work in physics

• Founded Zip 2 with brother Kimbal Musk in
1995 sold to Compaq in 1999 for $307 Million
• Founded X.com in 2000 which became PayPal
after the sale to Confinity. Confinity sold
PayPal to Ebay in 2002 for $1.5 Billion. Elon
received between $160-180 Million after
taxes

6. SPACEX
• Elon founded Space
Exploration Technologies
with a $100 Million
investment after the sale of
PayPal to Ebay
• Goal was to reduce space
transportation costs to
enable colonization of Mars
• Major player in space
industry winning contracts
from NASA
• Initiated Starlink
