7. Mini-Reflection:
Impact on Teaching and Learning
Google Slides allows for the teacher, to share a multitude of various online resources that are
imperative to building 21st century learning skills within Highschool students. This is possible, only
because of the presentation interface that Google allows for educators to use through Google
Classroom, and can present information and interactive resources to the students within any classroom
in an aesthetically pleasing way that is sure to catch adolescent student’s attention. This will allow for
the teacher to promote curiosity and creativity by allowing for students to create an inquiry-based
learning model of their own and allow them to freely explore the presented resources that are shown to
them through the usage of Google Slides and Classroom. The benefits of using this type of application
are limitless, however to mention a few this allows for students to visualize what it is that the teacher is
trying to teach them, as well as interact it with it on their own through their own technological devices
and resources such as cellphones and laptops. This also allows for students to access the resources at
home, and in other environments once the class period and educational instruction has concluded. The
challenges may be the student’s lack of technology understanding, as well as technical difficulties such
as a lack of internet access in school districts, similar to the ways that I witnessed in Hamden Public
Schools this past school year.
